Barbara Jean “Barb” (McAboy) Mungenast

BARB MUNGENAST (June 1956)
After years of study and hard work, Barbara Mungenast (June 1956) has become a nationally recognized sculptor. Her training started with college courses and progressed to private lessons and workshops with institutions like the Academy of Fine Arts in Loveland, Colorado.

Her work is both sensitive and realistic. Her figures speak volumes without uttering a word. She has been commissioned to do a monument at Jefferson Barracks, a monument commemorating those killed at the Pentagon on 9/11 and a monument for the State Highway Patrol Headquarters in Jefferson City.

Barbara gives back to the community through the David and Barbara Mungenast Foundation.Those receiving assistance have included the Make a Wish Foundation, the Boy’s Club of St. Louis, Greater St. Louis Food Bank, Backstoppers, the Muscular Dystrophy society, the ALS Foundation, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Light the Night, Special Olympics Missouri and many, many others. The Mungenast Foundation is funded by a portion of the profits from the Mungenast Automotive Group which is managed by Barbara’s three sons who have her total confidence and support.

Barbara was the St. Louis Variety Club’s Woman of Achievement in 1978.

Artist-Philanthropist-Business Woman she is a genuine triple threat and a welcome addition to our Hall of Fame.
