Charles “Chip” Allison, Class of 1975, was inducted into the Hall of Fame to recognize his 40-year career in education and coaching wrestling. Chip was born with club feet, not knowing if he could succeed in any sport. His life changed when a neighbor introduced him to wrestling. He went on to wrestle at Roosevelt and Southeast Missouri State where he was team captain as a senior. After obtaining his Education degree from Southeast, he taught and coached wrestling at Hannibal High School for two years. In 1981, he moved to Parkway South High School, where he also taught science and served as Head Wrestling Coach for several years. His teams won multiple conference and district championships, and several of his athletes continued wrestling at the collegiate level. Chip was the District Coach of the Year seven times. He is the fifth best winningest wrestling coach in Missouri history. He served as Parkway South’s Athletic Director from 2001 to 2011. The school’s annual wrestling tournament is named in his honor. Since retiring, Chip became the Wrestling Coach at Marquette High School in 2024 following concerns about the potential discontinuation of the sport.
Chip has been active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Howard Park Early Intervention Center and the Judevine Center, both focused on helping children with autism. He is a member of MSHSAA’s Wrestling Board of Directors.
